What is Reflexology

Reflexology is natural,  holistic non-invasive therapy, which uses a specific pressure technique applied to the feet and hands. Reflexology is a science that deals with principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all glands, organs and structures of the body.
Reflexology helps the body to maintain a delicate balance between all the systems.

Who can benefit
Reflexology is suitable for all ages  from babies to the elderly.


What happens during a Foot and Hand Reflexology treatment?
The treatment usually last for about 1hour.
The first treatment will includes  the consultation , during which details relating to your
health and lifestyle are taken to make sure the treatment is suitable for you and will also
give me the ability to give you a treatment tailored for your needs.
You stay fully clothed during whole treatment (except the feet ,shoes and socks will be
taken off)
After consultation you will be seated to a comfortable, reclining chair and covered with
a soft blanket to keep you warm.
The relaxing music can be played if you wish to promote deeper relaxation. 
Once you are comfortable - l will begin with the treatment.  I will start with a relaxing foot 
effleurage and massage routine which will smoothly move into Reflexology treatment
where the special technique of the thumb and index finger will be applied to the reflex
areas of the feet. The treatment will finishes with relaxing foot effleurage and massage.

You will have a moment to drink a glass of water and we will discuss any findings . On the base of the
findings I will devise a specific treatment suited for your needs.


Reactions which can occur during treatment:
*  a feeling of being very cold
* crying, laughing
* profuse sweating on the palms of the hands
* sensitivity to the reflex areas

Reaction between treatments
* Increase in urination
* Increase in bulk, volume and frequency of the stool
* increase in nasal secretion
*feeling very tired. The body is working overtime to bring about healing and elimination.
* Feeling very sleepy. Relaxation, letting go.
* Feeling wonderful.  Restored energy

AFTER CARE ADVICE

To enjoy the benefits of your treatment and for your own health and safety please follow the after care advice below.

  • Make time for yourself, before and after your massage session to maximise the relaxation

  • Drink plenty of water in the next 24 hours to aid the detoxifying process

  • Try to avoid stimulants over the next 24 hours such as tea, coffee and alcohol as they may interfere with detoxification

  • Avoid eating a heavy meal for at least an hour after treatment

  • Be careful if driving as reaction may be slower

  • Some reactions are part of the healing process and a sign your body is eliminating toxins. Its normal for you to feel any of following ; feeling cold, mild headaches, thirsty, feeling emotional and dizzy, mild tiredness, needing to visit the toilet more frequently.
